Grayson County Public Library and the Friends of the Grayson County Public Library will be hosting A Novel Tea featuring Kentucky author Sue Kelly Ballard on Wednesday, April 18th @ 12:00 p.m. CDT. Tickets are $6.00. A light lunch will be provided. Ballard will be reading selections from her book My Blessed, Wretched Life: Rebecca Boone’s Story. Copies will be available for purchase ($20) and signing.
Sue Kelly Ballard was born in Kentucky but raised as an army brat in several states and overseas. Her career has been divided between the corporate world in Kentucky, Colorado, and Indiana, and, later as a community college professor of chemistry in Kentucky. She recently retired as a professor emerita.
She is a member of the Filson Historical Society, the DAR, the Historical Novel Society, the Board of Trustees for Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest, and the Boone Society Board of Directors. She is the co-editor for the Society’s Compass magazine. She recently received the state DAR Women in the Arts Award for My Blessed, Wretched Life: Rebecca Boone’s Story. She is also a member of the Bard’s Corner and Cherokee Roundtable writers groups. She currently resides in Elizabethtown, KY with her husband, Jimmie. Her creative side has been nurtured by her love of travel, history, literature, and writing.
Both of Sue’s parents have ancestors who served in the military during the American Revolution. Sue’s husband has Kentucky pioneer ancestors who were part of early Kentucky settlement history.
